At Cafe Scientifique anyone can come to explore the latest ideas in science and technology over a drink in friendly company. Meetings take place in cafes, bars, restaurants. The first were held in Leeds in 1998 and they have since spread across the UK and internationally.

Founded in 1980 as Register of Engineers for Disaster Relief, RedR now includes health and other professionals and provides trained volunteers for relief work worldwide.

The Institution of Civil Engineers website includes the ICE Virtual Library, where past issues of ICE Proceedings and other publications can be accessed on-line.

The Institution of Structural Engineers website gives access to IStructE reports and technical publications and also past issues of The Structural Engineer.

The Steel Construction Institute offers technical advice and publications on steelwork design.

The Concrete Centre offers technical advice and publications on concrete design.

The Timber Research and Development Association offers technical advice and publications on timber design.
